John’s Story
John Cerqueira has called Raleigh home on and off since 1997, returning permanently in 2011. A survivor of the 9/11 attacks, John’s experience deepened his commitment to community service. With a professional background in corporate training and consulting, he has a proven track record of helping organizations and teams navigate change.
“I feel compelled to apply my education in understanding how cities grow responsibly, my civic experience helping to bring a skatepark to downtown Raleigh, and my professional experience helping companies solve complex problems to find creative solutions that serve the greater good.”
John holds an MBA from UNC's Kenan-Flagler Business School and a BS in Marketing from NC State. He co-founded Skate Raleigh, successfully bringing the Conlon Family Skate Park to downtown. John is dedicated to thoughtful community growth, safety, and community engagement and green spaces.
As a candidate for Raleigh City Council, District E, he aims to leverage his unique experiences to foster a vibrant, inclusive, and prosperous Raleigh.
